Flora and fauna survey and habitat management plan for Dunderry townland, Co Meath
|
Client: Meath County Council, Heritage Officer and Dunderry Tidy Towns Committee
In 2005, BEC Consultants carried out a botanical and habitat survey of the village of Dunderry and its environs. The purpose of the study was to provide baseline information on the existing habitats within Dunderry townland and to provide general management recommendations for these habitats for the village's Tidy Towns Committee. The survey comprised Phase 1 habitat surveys of the study area using aerial photographs and field survey work. Notes were made on mammals and birds that were recorded during the field survey and a night-time survey for bats was carried out. The report included Phase 1 habitat mapping of the townland, descriptions of the habitats recorded together with species lists and recommendations for management of these areas. A presentation was made to the local community about the findings of the study with emphasis on how the local community can be involved in the enhancement of biodiversity at a local level.
