In 2005, BEC Consultants conducted a study of the flora and fauna of Dunderry, County Meath. The habitats of Dunderry village and its environs were identified and mapped to level 3 of Fossitt’s (2000) A Guide to Habitats in Ireland. The vascular plants, mammals and birds occurring within each habitat type were listed and ecological networks were recorded. A bat survey was carried out to record bat activity at key areas that were identified during habitat mapping. A management plan, intended for use by the local community, was produced using non-technical language, providing descriptions of ecological hotspots and ecological corridors and making practical recommendations for biodiversity enhancement.
