During 2006, BEC Consultants carried out a survey of rare, threatened and scarce vascular plant species within Counties Cavan, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Westmeath. Plant records dating back as far as the 19th century, which were held by the National Parks & Wildlife Service and local Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland recorders, were utilised during the survey. In total 129 sites were surveyed and a rare, threatened or scarce plant species was found at 38 of these sites. When such a species was located, site and population data were recorded, including a relevĂ© situated within the habitat of the target species. All data collected during the survey were added to a Recorder 2002 database.
